Study in Australia: a guide for international students

Australia combines highly ranked universities with a relaxed lifestyle and strong support for international students. EduQuantica helps you choose a CRICOS-registered course, apply with complete documents and prepare your Genuine Student statement for the student visa.

Why study in Australia?

Australian universities offer practical, industry-linked courses and a well-regulated system for international students. Most bachelor's degrees take three years, and many master's degrees take one and a half to two years.

Partner universities in Australia

Our Australian partners include the University of Notre Dame Australia, the University of Western Australia (UWA College) and Universal Higher Education. See the full list below.

Entry requirements

Undergraduate entry is based on your school results, sometimes after a foundation year, and postgraduate entry on your bachelor's degree. Universities and the student visa both require proof of English, usually through a test such as IELTS, PTE or TOEFL.

Intakes

The main intakes are February (Semester 1) and July (Semester 2), and some institutions also offer a November intake. Applying six to nine months ahead gives you time for your offer, CoE and visa.

Cost of studying in Australia

Tuition depends on your course and university, and living costs are highest in Sydney and Melbourne. For your visa you must show you can cover tuition, living and travel costs and hold Overseas Student Health Cover (OSHC) — check the current amounts on the Department of Home Affairs website.

Scholarships in Australia

Many Australian universities offer merit scholarships and tuition reductions for international students. We find the ones you qualify for and help you meet each deadline.

Australian Student visa (subclass 500)

International students usually study on the Student visa (subclass 500). You will normally need:

  • A Confirmation of Enrolment (CoE) from a CRICOS-registered provider
  • A Genuine Student (GS) statement explaining why you want to study in Australia
  • Evidence of funds for tuition, living and travel costs
  • Overseas Student Health Cover (OSHC) for your whole stay
  • Proof of English, where required

Check the current requirements and fees on the Department of Home Affairs website before you apply. After graduating, eligible students may apply for a Temporary Graduate visa (subclass 485) — confirm the current rules with Home Affairs.
